Christians have been urged to fear God, turn away from sin, and respect the servants of God sent to minister among them.
The call was made by the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, when he stopped at Rweibare Sub-Parish under St. Peter’s Bugangari C.O.U. in Bugangari Archdeaconry to pray with the family of the late Butamanya Elinest. The Bishop was on his way to Bugangari Archdeaconry Centre for a confirmation service.
The family was associated with the burning of the church in 1984 by their fore fathers.
During the visit, Bishop Asiimwe encouraged the family to seek God and embrace Christ, emphasizing the importance of repentance and living according to God’s Word.
Bishop Asiimwe cautioned Christians against fighting Church leaders or speaking falsely about God’s servants. He encouraged them to pray for their leaders and leave matters of judgment to God instead of engaging in conflicts and spreading false information.
He further urged Christians to receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour, saying that true faith in Christ brings freedom from sin and spiritual bondage.
He called on believers to humble themselves before God, follow His commandments, and remain committed to Christ, drawing from the blessings outlined in Deuteronomy 28:2–15
The former Assistant Bishop of Kampala Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Hannington Mutebi, together with his wife, Maama Milly Mutebi, also encouraged the family to remain firm in their faith. Bishop Mutebi reminded them that God created every person with a purpose and encouraged them to remain obedient to His Word.
Drawing from Jeremiah 29:11, Bishop Mutebi emphasized that God has good plans for His people, plans to prosper them, give them hope, and provide them with a future. He encouraged Christians not to grow weary when faced with challenges, assuring them that God remains with those who trust in Him.
Grace Mbabazi, a member of the Butamanya family, thanked Bishop Asiimwe and Bishop Mutebi for visiting and praying with the family. She testified that she had witnessed God’s work at Rweibare, including the healing of a church member who had been crippled and people receiving Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour.
Mbabazi said she believed the family had experienced healing from the challenges associated with their past and pledged to remain rooted in Christ and continue sharing God’s love.
During the service, more than 40 people received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour, while healing, deliverance, and reconciliation among family members were witnessed. One of the notable cases was a man who could hardly stand without support from his wife and a walking stick. After receiving Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour and being prayed for, he was able to walk without support and left the service with joy.
