Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe Applauds WATSAN UK Support for Transforming Communities Through Clean Water

The Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe, has commended WATSAN UK Support for their outstanding charity work in providing clean and safe drinking water to communities within the Diocese. PhilPhillipa Piper, Bishop Asiimwe welcome Eng. Graham Piper, Chairperson of WATSAN Uganda UK Support Group, and his wife Dr. Phillipa Piper, Bishop Asiimwe expressed deep appreciation for the group’s continued partnership and dedication to improving livelihoods through water and sanitation initiatives.

The Bishop described the WATSAN UK Support team as compassionate servants whose work reflects the love and compassion of Jesus Christ. He noted that access to clean and safe water remains a significant need in many communities and described the partnership as a great blessing to the Diocese.

“To have friends who support us in providing safe and clean drinking water is a tremendous gift to our people,” the Bishop said, calling upon Christians to continue praying for sustainable water systems across the country.

Addressing the gathering, Eng. Graham Piper shared that his passion for water ministry dates back to 1985 when he first visited Kabale and witnessed firsthand the challenges communities faced in accessing safe water.

He emphasized that their current visit aims to benchmark ongoing projects, assess progress, and strengthen continued support for WATSAN initiatives to ensure sustainability.

Quoting Epistle to the Philippians 1:4–8, Piper noted that WATSAN UK Support’s mission extends beyond water provision to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ through practical service.

Rev. Kabareebe further encouraged board committee members to prioritize sustainability and accountability to guarantee long-term impact within the two Dioceses.
