Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, His Grace Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, Calls for Unity Among Christians

North Kigezi Diocese News

This evening, the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, The Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, together with the clergy and laity, received the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, His Grace The Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, at the Kahengye Bridge on the border of Ntungamo District and Rukungiri District.

Upon his arrival, the Archbishop prayed a blessing over the laity, students of Kahengye Parents Secondary School, and the jubilant Christians who had gathered to warmly welcome him.

The Archbishop, accompanied by his team—his Chaplain Rev. Johnson Kansiime, the Provincial Head of Communications Mr. Sadiiki Adams, and his driver—was later officially welcomed by Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe, together with the clergy and the laity, at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano.

Speaking to the congregants, the Archbishop called for unity and togetherness among the Christians of North Kigezi Diocese who had gathered to receive him.

The Archbishop urged all Christians to support Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe, whom he described as an instrumental and globally minded leader who is passionate about ministry and has a caring heart for the flock he pastors.

“Personally, I chose Bishop Onesimus, and I always delegate some duties to him because I know him as an organized leader who accomplishes the work entrusted to him well,” said the Archbishop.

Archbishop Kaziimba further encouraged the Christians to support Bishop Asiimwe together with Maama Florence, noting that Bishop Asiimwe is widely recognized internationally.

“If you do not support him, many others are watching and may take him because he is an international figure. Bishop Asiimwe is a gift to you, the Christians of North Kigezi Diocese. Support him and he will take you far,” said Archbishop Kaziimba.

He also cautioned those who promote division in the Church, referencing Nehemiah 6:1–17, where Tobiah and Sanballat opposed the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem.

“Work together with the Bishop for the good of your Diocese,” he emphasized.

The Archbishop also commended the Diocese for sending a resourceful leader, Dr. Edson Masiko, to serve at the Provincial Assembly, where he is also a member of the Provincial Assembly Standing Committee.

He described Dr. Masiko as a solution-oriented leader.

“Dr. Edson Masiko is a problem solver and not a person who brings problems. Whenever I see his hand raised during meetings, I personally choose him to speak because I know he always has a solution,” said Archbishop Kaziimba.

The Archbishop further commended the Diocese for the tremendous development and visibility achieved in the media space through NKD Media.

“I have personally followed everything that takes place in North Kigezi Diocese. Thank you for using social media profitably,” he noted.

However, he cautioned those who misuse social media for harmful purposes

“Social media does not forget. Whatever you post will one day come back to you. You still need jobs and partners in marriage. Use it wisely so that you do not miss out on good opportunities because of harmful things you posted online,” the Archbishop warned.

The Archbishop also condemned acts of abuse, blackmail, and character assassination on social media, urging people to desist from such practices.

On Saturday, 14th March 2026, the Archbishop will visit Kasoroza Church of Uganda in Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry to bid farewell to Christians.

He will then officiate at the 3rd Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the Episcopal Ministry of Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe on Sunday, 15th March 2026, at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano.

To God be the Glory.
