North Kigezi Diocese News
On Thursday, November 26, 2025, over 12,000 Christians gathered at the Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano Consecration Site for the Diocesan Day of Prayer and Fasting.
The Day of Prayer and Fasting, organized by the Missions Department headed by Rev. Niwagaba Julius, aligns with the core areas of prayer and evangelism emphasized in Bishop Onesimus’ charge.
Speaking to the congregants, he said, “We have an order we follow in the Anglican Church for prayers, but some situations require desperate prayers.”
Bishop Asiimwe noted that there is revival in North Kigezi Diocese (NKD), saying, “Revival is like floods. When you go into the floods, they carry you, and when you don’t go in, you remain behind. Choose to be revived or remain in sin.”
Adding to the message on prayer, Bishop Onesimus recognized and commended the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, His Grace the Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, noting that under his leadership, prayer conventions at the provincial level are being organized.
Bishop Onesimus called upon believers to pray with faith, saying that when you have faith, God will supply all your needs.
Quoting Daniel 10:18, he encouraged believers that the Lord will strengthen them just as He strengthened Daniel. “Many of you have been praying since the year began and you have grown weary—but the Lord will revive your strength today. Battles will come, and you will face many, but you will overcome because God has the power to destroy all rulers, principalities, and authorities of this world.”
Bishop Onesimus also expressed concern and condemned alcoholism and sexual immorality, including adultery and fornication among the youth.
Adding to the Bishop’s words on revival, Uncle Jimrex said, “When revival comes, it brings transformation. Even the naming of children changes—from names like Rufu, Bazirake, Bafwokworora, etc., to names like Namanya, Asiimwe, and Akanduhura.”
Speaking to the Christians, Mr. Jimrex Byamugisha urged them to cast all their burdens upon Jesus Christ, saying, “He is a strong tower and a foundation that cannot be shaken by any waves.”
Following the theme “Nothing is Impossible With My God,” Mr. Jimrex said that when we focus on God and trust Him, our problems become small and we can conquer mountains, referencing Numbers 13:26–33.
“When you come to Jesus, trust Him and don’t look to any other side,” he added. He also challenged those who cling to other gods yet still come to pray to God: “Don’t mix the two. Choose whom you will follow, trust, and serve.”
During the same function, Bishop Onesimus called upon believers to embrace the One Acre Model as promoted by H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Citing the example of Nyakaana Farm—situated on 1.5 acres and owned by Mr. Nyakaana Richard—which he recently visited with other religious leaders from the Kigezi Sub-region, the Bishop encouraged believers with at least one acre of land to practice the One Acre Model of farming, saying that if well-managed, a farmer can earn a net income of seventeen million shillings.
The day was filled with the Spirit of God, with great miracles of healing witnessed and the authorities and principalities of the devil broken. A total of 50 people received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
