Emeritus Bishop Patrick Tugume Tusingwire was appointed as care-taker Bishop of the North Kigezi Diocese. Bishop Patrick Tugume was appointed by the Archbishop of the Province of the Church of Uganda; His Grace, Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu. In the appointment letter, His Grace the Archbishop stated;
“…Following my announcement of your appointment to be the Caretaker Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese during the funeral and burial on Friday, 18th June 2021 at Emmanuel Cathedral, Kinyasano Rukungiri, this is to officially communicate the same to you. Yo are appointed Caretaker Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese with effect from 18th June 2021, until a substantive Bishop is elected and consecrated. Your main responsibilities will include;
- Pastoral oversight over the Diocese,
- Overseeing the general administration of the Diocese
- Convening the Diocesan meetings and guiding the Diocesan Team
- Prepare the Diocese in the process of healing until a new Bishop is elected, consecrated and enthroned by the House of Bishops
