Women Urged to Strengthen Their Faith Through Prayer

North Kigezi Diocese News

North Kigezi Diocese, October 24, 2025 — Thousands of women gathered at Besania Prayer Mountain in Rukungiri Municipality for the annual Women’s Day of Prayer and Fasting, held under the theme “Your Faith Has Healed You” (Matthew 9:20–22). The event was organized by Maama Florence Asiimwe in collaboration with the Diocesan Mother’s Union and Family Life Coordinator.

In her sermon, Maama Florence Asiimwe called on Christians to focus their lives on Jesus Christ through prayer and faith, especially in difficult times. She reminded believers that Jesus does not require material wealth but genuine faith.

“Raise your faith in prayer, knowing that when you tell Him, He will do it—even if He seems to delay. When you call on Jesus, He will come,” she encouraged.

Dinah Mwesigye, another speaker, urged believers to approach God with open hearts, surrendering everything before Him. Quoting Jeremiah 7:1–15, she condemned vices such as hatred, envy, adultery, selfishness, theft, witchcraft, and greed, saying these hinder God’s response to prayer.

Meanwhile, Grace Ainembabazi emphasized that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. She encouraged women to remain “rooted and built in Christ” despite life’s challenges, reminding them that “there is no stronger word than the Word of God in a believer’s mouth.” She also cautioned against double-mindedness, saying, “Some come to Jesus yet still hold on to other gods.”

Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe commended the women for their devotion and commitment to prayer, saying prayer requires neither preparation nor special instruction. Referring to 1 John 2:27, he reminded the faithful that the Holy Spirit lives within them and that the anointing they receive teaches them all things.

“When you face confusion, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as you prioritize salvation,” he said.

Professor Ezra Suruma, who attended the gathering, expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to join in prayer. He said he was encouraged by the large turnout and shared his hope that the prayer mountain he is building in Kabale would similarly bring believers together. Quoting 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, he urged Christians to “rejoice in the Lord always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances.”

The event was marked by a spirit of revival and renewal. Fifty people gave their lives to Christ, while many others testified to healing and restoration.
